Well 2012 is now officially up and running, and unbelievably whilst it still feels like we are finding dropped sausage rolls and streamers from party poppers set off during New Years parties, we are almost an entire month into the year!

With the new year often comes new years resolutions of all shapes and sizes, stopping smoking, losing weight, and trying new things are common ones which are often already forgotten by this time of year!

So, rather than lying to yourself, and having to explain to your partner why you haven’t lost those few extra pounds you said you would, or why you haven’t finally finished decorating the bathroom, , however, here at Wheelworx we have a fantastic idea for a – slightly delayed – new years resolution which is easy to stick to, and which you can most certainly benefit from.

Instead of 2012 being just another year in which your car is still rolling around on big, heavy, steel wheels with unattractive wheel trims that are merely hanging on with cable ties, 2012 should be the year in which you transform the look and performance of your car…how you ask?…with alloy wheels of course!

Not only do alloy wheels look incredibly good on a car, they are also much lighter than steel wheels so provide great performance and efficiency benefits, something I’m sure most drivers would enjoy.

So, why not give yourself a much more enjoyable resolution this year, and treat both yourself and your car, with some fantastic alloy wheels from our comprehensive collection, happy new year!

Lets face it we are in a rescission and its hard enough paying for basic essentials never mind keeping up to date with cars. Most people used to buy a car, keep it for a few years and trade it in and pay a bit extra to get a newer upgraded car but now days its hard enough paying for a car and keeping it running for a few years. Everybody likes to have something new but unless you have a really amazing job or make loads of money then it might be a while before you can treat yourself to a new motor.

However if you cannot afford to get yourself a new car then there are other options. Why not buy a new pair of alloy wheels to transform the look of your car and instantly brings it up to date. With hundreds if not thousands of different styles and colours to choose from you can change the appearance of your car and for a fraction of the price in comparison to buying a new car.

Another great thing about buying some new alloys instead of a new car is you are in the same car. Ok maybe that doest sound the best but if you have had your car for a while you start to get attached to it and know how it responds and handles. You start to give it a nickname and whatever else so just improving the rims would not only make it look newer, feel better but it would still have the same characteristics and charm you have grown accustom to. If you would like to check out some really nice and top quality rims please click here.

Most people may think an alloy wheel is just there to look good and make your motor look a lot better but there are many more positives than just looking good. Another main beneficiary of an alloy wheel is how it affects a cars performance.

An alloy wheel is typically made from either aluminium or magnesium but in quite a few cases they are made from a mixture of both substances. Because they are created from these elements and not the usual element (steel) they become much more lighter but still maintain quite a bit of their durability and also conduct heat much better. The reason alloys conducting heat is a positive thing is because it improves the overall heat dissipation from braking which decreases the possibility of a braking failure. Less chance of a braking failure not only increases the cars performance but also makes the car a lot more safer.

Clearly people don´t folk out around £100-£500 per wheel just because of this. There are many more advantage as well such as a lighter weight of the overall vehicle increases the overall speed, performance, petrol usage and functionality of a vehicle. Not only does the light weight of an alloy wheel increases the speed but another contributing factor is an alloys aerodynamics which also increase speed and lower fuel consumption. Not only are these all great for any petrol head but lets face it, what they do best is improve the overall look of your vehicle.

Magnesium wheels also know as mag wheels are mainly used for racing purposes. The overall mass of a magnesium while is usual 5-9 KG depending on the size which makes them lighter than both steel and aluminium alloys. Although do be careful if you are buying some racing mag wheels to thrash around a race track because there have been a few notable occasions when they have caught fire.

So now you know all you need to about alloy wheels and what they do, why not take a look through this website and see if there are any alloy wheels that take your fancy. Or click the image to be directed to wheel works website where they have a huge catalogue of alloys.

Fresh out of the casts for 2009 comes the first in a long line of new wheels from Kei Racing. The respected manufacturer has been working hard over the winter, designing, testing and manufacturing a superb new range of rims that look as much at home on a Mini as they do on a Mitsubishi.

The stunning Kozuka boasts a pseudo split-rim appearance, complete with allen bolts and precision machined lip. Both 17” x 7” and 18” x 7.5” inch sizes are available in most 4 and 5 stud pattern fitments, including VAG, Ford, Vauxhall, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Fiat. The Kozuka is named after the sword favoured as the weapon of choice for many Samurai warriors in ancient feudal Japan, so it’s highly appropriate for Kei’s cutting-edge wheel technology and design.

The wheel centre is finished in flawless piano black, to create an attractive contrast with the lacquered lip, and will work well with any body colour to create a mean, moody and purposeful looking motor.

See your local alloy wheels shop for pricing and fitment.

Wolfrace Wheels are pleased to announce the introduction of a new limited edition wheel to the hugely popular Asia-Tec range.

The Wolfrace Asia-Tec range consists of several tried and tested designs in a range of sizes and specifications to suit most vehicles.

The ‘Triad’ alloy wheel has been a successful design in the Wolfrace Asia-Tec range for the last 18 months, available in Silver.

The simple split five spoke design is now available as a limited edition in a new high quality Matt Black finish with a red rim, matching the Wolfrace Asia-Tec centre cap – perfect for four-stud hot hatches.

I personally love the look and can easily say at this point in time that the Wolfrace Triad is one of the nicest alloy wheels on the market.

Available in 7.0 x 17 – 4 stud !
